Death of Black Bart

On this day in 1722 the most successful pirate in history met his death at the hands of the Royal Navy. Born near Milford haven in Pembrokeshire in 1682 he captured
more than 400 ships in the course of his four year career as a pirate. He raided shipping off the American coast from Newfoundland to the West Indies.
