National Referendum On Devolution

The National Referendum on Welsh Devolution was held on this day
in 1997. Wales voted for its own parliament by a very small majority .

When the Parliament opened on May 26th 1999 it was the first in Wales
since the the days of Owain Glyndwr. Owain held a parliament in
Machynlleth in 1404.
