The Hot Puppies  "How Come You Dont Hold Me No More" released late 2006. A new single from the 'Puppies' is due for release on 26th May (see details below).The band originally from Aberystwyth are now based in Cardiff.
From the Press Release:- "On Monday 26th May Purr Records release 500 copies of “Somewhere” c/w ‘WhereThe  Werewolves Meet” (PURR022) on 7" vinyl in full-colour sleeves. This release will be available nationally through Shellshock, and online stores such as Rough Trade and Norman Records. It will also be available through the Purr website (www.purr.org.uk), and as a digital download from iTunes."  Hear the band's new single "Somewhere" on their MySpace page. Robin Huw Bowen, whose magnificent new album "The Road To Aberystwyth" is pictured above, is coming to the United Sates early next year. He will be appearing on the West Coast and we will post details of dates and venues as soon as they are released. Hopefully he will come to Portland. Mekons in Portland


OK so The Mekons are not a Welsh band but they are one of the finest and most important bands to come out of the UK in the last 30 years. On Monday October 9th they played the Aladdin Theatre in Portland as part of their 30th Anniversary Celebration Tour. They were, as usual, excellent. Jon Langford is, of course, a Welshman (hailing from Newport in Gwent) and he and Sally Timms have been the mainstays of the band throughout its many personnel changes over the years. ...more

Sunday night, Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) and Lisa Jen (9Bach) sat down on a small stage in two chairs, side by side, before a very lucky audience.  A table set before them was heaped, as is Rhys' practice, with many interesting things.  They made splendid and transcendent sound......more
